"OH!" said he "EVERYTHING SEEMS CLEARER AND BRIGHTER NOW."

Well the cataract surgery went very well yesterday thank goodness and this morning the eye patch was removed and now we begin 2 lots of drops 4 times a day for about 4 weeks.  Fun and games but I don't mind doing this for him as he did it for me with both my cataract ops.
Before this was done he said his vision was still really OK but today he suddenly realised that he was seeing so much clearer than before and colours were so much brighter.  I don't think his vision was ever as bad as mine had become but the difference truly is astounding.  If, and when, he has the other eye done he will see even better than he is seeing now, of that I'm positive.

Unfortunately, after me telling him no pain was involved, he did feel some discomfort and his doctor said that very little anaesthesia is used (you are still very much awake during the procedure) so if he has the other eye done perhaps mention he may need just a tad more.  He's usually pretty stoical so it must have hurt a wee bit more than he expected.

Another thing that is different is I didn't have stitches whereas MOH does have a stitch (or stitches .. I'm not sure how many as I can't see them).  I guess all doctors do things differently but this doctor is much more senior to mine so perhaps prefers the older method of doing things.

Back to see the doctor next Tuesday and then I think in 5 weeks when it will probably be discovered he will need a new lens in his specs for that eye.  Fortunately the current frames are quite OK.

There is always something exciting going on in the lives of we ancient ones.

    1. Thanks Buttons. It is indeed good to have excellent eyesight. Our only wish is that the rest of poor old bodies were just as good. Guess we can't have everything though, can we? lol

  4. Hi BabyMac and thanks for your wishes. He is doing so well and tolerating the constant eye drops very well.
I have been unable to find your blog for ages and I've missed you. Do please let me know where it is now so I can visit you again.
Remember the wee gift pack you so kindly sent me? Well when MOH had to go the doctor yesterday the pack itself was useful for popping in his sunglasses and the two bottles of drops he had to take with him. Fitted nicely into his jacket pocket so you see, everything has its use.

  6. His eye is improving every day. No word about second eye being done yet. Sometimes one cataract can grow much faster than the other. Yes, believe me the difference before and after is quite unbelievable.
