We wanted to say thank you for your support during the time Precious was so ill and then when we had to have her put to sleep. She has now been cremated and we will soon have her home in a dear little urn with her name on it. We didn't realise what a huge hole she would leave in our daily lives, a hole that will be very hard to fill, if indeed it ever can be filled.
Our family have been so supportive (from as far away as Alaska) and my blogging and facebook friends have been wonderful and Phil and I do so appreciate everyone's kindness.
THANK YOU
Oh Mimsie. I have been shedding tears for Precious over here too - and your loss is huge. She was much loved, and of course she is missed.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry I didn't mean to cause grief to others as well but to share our sorrow as that tends to lessen the total of it. Family have been great but perhaps it's that Phil and I are always here on our own with no-one else around that makes the loss of Precious so enormous. She wasn't just a cat but a personality.
DeleteNo apologies. You captured perfectly what a special cat she was. And it reminded me of cats I have loved and lost. And sitll love.
DeleteIt does leave a huge hole in your life and in your heart when you lose a much loved pet. I still miss my boys and it's been a long long time since I had to let them go.
ReplyDeleteWe still miss many pets we have lost over the years but Precious seems to have left a gigantic hole for both of us. We know when we take on a pet that it is possible we will outlive them and yet we still put ourselves through it. We just need them in our lives and are willing to take that risk, over and over.
DeleteOh my friend, I'm so very sorry to read this, how sad and emotional for you x Our pets are really our cherished best friends, they really are! How lucky your little one was to have YOU, it works both ways! Please think of the happy times, and I hope these bring a smile to you xox
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments. Yes, there were so many happy times over nearly 13 years and they are what we are now thinking about and talking about. As in "do you remember when". We are not sure if we are too old to take on even a senior cat but that is a decision we will make before too long. A house is certainly not a home without a cat or dog to share it with us. We are definitely too old for a dog but another cat? Perhaps.

ReplyDeleteBlessings to you both; may each day become easier. YAM xx
Thanks Yam. Yes I think perhaps each day is a tad easier but it's an ongoing battle to try and get over this loss. I think she was so 'human' in many ways and also 'doglike'. She could talk and would come when called and understood so many commands. She was special. xxx
DeleteI am so sorry to hear of your sad news Mimsie. Love and hugs heading your way.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Denise. Probably seems a bit silly but that's us and we're not ashamed at the sadness we felt on losing our little friend, and still do.
DeleteMimsie; I still get teary when I think of you and Phil without Precious. I thought of her this morning when selecting cat food for Angel at Woolies, I thought of her last night when I tried yet again to brush Angel
ReplyDeleteI hope the hole in your lives grows smaller as time passes, you will always have your memories of her.
As said to EC, I didn't mean to upset others in sharing the story of Precious so apologies. I do hope you will soon be able to brush Angel as it is one thing that brought Precious and I (and eventually Phil) so close together. We were so lucky she enjoyed being brushed and would actually ask us to do it.
DeleteShe also loved to be stroked and would sit for 5 minutes or even longer just being stroked down her back. A very loving little friend.
Angel is happy enough being stroked and I can run the brush along his back for a couple of minutes, even along his tail, but not for long. He prefers hands only.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Precious simply adored being brushed she would also love to just sit there and be stroked as well. They just love the attention.
