I ask you, what more can an 82-year-old wife ask for than to have her 84-year-old husband arrive home with a lovely bunch of carnations and wish her "Happy Valentine's Day". It was a lovely surprise and I can smell the perfume of the flowers drift across our living room as I sit there.
I perhaps could have taken this photo in a better place than on our kitchen sink but there you are, that's just me. I was so delighted I just had to take a snap of them while they looked so pretty and fresh.
Thanks you Phil and for loving me still after all these years.
P.S. At least the sink is nice and clean. : )
Lovely flowers. A lovely post. My best wishes to you both!
ReplyDeleteThanks Geo. x
DeleteHow gorgeous. I am so happy that he appreciates you for the wonderful woman you are - and that you appreciate the wonderful man he is. Win/win.
ReplyDeleteYep, just like Darby and Joan I guess. We know each other's shortcomings, accept them and get on with our lives. It's the only way when you intend to spend the rest of your lives together.
DeleteThis is so sweet Mimsie, you and Phil have a love to treasure. Carnations were my dad's favourite, they're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love carnations. I like roses too but I find the perfume of carnations much more pleasurable and these were the old fashioned type that really do have a wonderful perfume.
DeleteI do realise how lucky we are to have each other, especially at our age.

ReplyDelete...I was so busy admiring the flowers I never even noticed the placing!! Carnations are one of my faves - indeed they are a family flower, grown by several aunts and uncles. In the language of flowers they represent admiration and enduring love...which is why they are often the standard for wedding corsages!! Two lucky people over there. Big hugs from over here. YAM xx
Thanks Yam. I have taken pieces of these carnations and am hopeful of perhaps getting them to strike. In our hot weather it may be difficult but worth a try. I've not grown carnations for years and I would have them in pots, easier to look after. xxx
DeleteOh you should see the smile on my face you would have thought Phil gave them to me:) Oh you are both so lucky. Happy Valentines Day. Hug B
ReplyDeleteButtons thank you for your wishes. Yes, we are lucky. xx
DeleteAnd it is clear that you have had a very Happy Hearts Day thanks to the love of your life! Best wishes to you both and those flowers are lovely no matter where they were photographed.
ReplyDeleteHi Beatrice..thanks for popping in and welcome. Yes, the flowers were lovely and such a surprise too. I felt truly cared for.
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day Mimsie....that man of yours is a keeper.
ReplyDeleteHe's a quiet man but they say still waters run deep and I feel that is very true of Phil. Thanks for the kind wishes.
DeleteThat man still has the magic.
ReplyDeleteYes, in his own quiet way I guess he does. I know he's always there for me even when I do stupid things like ruin our kitchen....and still he gives me flowers.
DeleteLove them, so pretty, so thoughtful, lucky woman xxx
ReplyDeleteOnly a simple bunch of flowers but they were as important to me as if they had been expensive orchids or the like. I am lucky..of that I am sure. xxx
DeleteOh bless, I do love a spot of romance, and a vase of carnations. How lovely x
ReplyDeleteThanks PPMJ...I do have a great bloke there. x
