THOUGHTFUL ON THURSDAY

"The key to life is to look for what's right in your life".

I saw these words yesterday and thought how true they are.  No matter how black things may seem at times, if you look carefully, you can usually find at least one thing that is right in your life, even if it's only tiny.

I may try and remember to make this a regular Thursday thing.  Just so each week I have to think of something that really is right in my life on that day.  Some of my days are full of frustration at the things I took for granted but can no longer do such as knitting, sewing, using scissors, writing and so it goes on because it includes things like gardening and even walking.  With all that frustration though there are things in my life that are right and I think we should all be looking for the right things, the good things and be thankful for them regardless of any 'bad' if 'annoying' things that are there as well.

Today I looked for what is right for me and it is this:  for some months (nay, years perhaps) I've wanted to move a long table from behind the sofa in the living room and replace it with a smallish desk.  Phil and I managed to get the folding table out (we used it in the front garden for afternoon tea on Sunday) and on that day our son-in-law and grandson-in-law moved the desk from my workroom into the living room without me even asking them (they'd heard me talking about it)...they are two great people.

This room is only 10' x 10' so not huge but without that desk in here I seem to have so much more room.  Now I can concentrate on sorting out the things I want and don't want (haven't used that fan for a few years so it can go) so for me this is what is right in my life today.  It's only a small 'right' but the chance to be rid of more clutter always sits well with me.  Hidden behind my chair are a few boxes of 'stuff' which will give me more floor space and I've already got a couple of empty cupboards so it's all systems go from now on.

I hope you can find something really 'right' in your life today and if so, perhaps let me know what it is.

P.S.  I now realise that one of those colourful files is upside down.  Needed a photo to see it.  lol

  1. What's right in my life? I can still walk. It's painful but I'm not in a wheelchair so I can't complain. That's a BIG right.

  2. Clearing up clutter and organizing stuff always gives me a big lift, too. Today, I woke up, my hubby and I were both still breathing, and our cats were as cuddly as ever, so that's definitely right, and it's exactly how I hope to start every day for a long time to come. Plus, I got a lot of Christmas shopping done yesterday, so I'm reeeeeally feeling good.

    1. It's great to see your life is going along so well and it's good to have some Christmas shopping already done too.
      Thanks for popping in Susan.

Lovely idea for a theme Mimsie!! Today, despite devastating weather here in Scotland (and heading south), I managed to get over to my father's for lunch, the sun came out, the snow began to fall and I finally got a bank account opened. This is the beginning of properly belonging back here in Blight. So it feels right!!!

I'll be away for a week or so, which means you may not get comments for a while...don't think the island cottage has internet &*< eek. YAM xx

    2. Thanks for that. I will try and keep this up and wish I knew how to set it up as a weekly theme but my computer competence is rather on the lowly side.
Sounds as though everything is going well for you in Bonnie Scotland and glad you were able to get over to visit your dad.
I'd love to be there with you so look forward to hearing more about your visit to Blighty.

  4. Brilliant idea. There is so much that is right in my life - mostly little things, but the little things are BIG. This morning, for example, Jazz let me sleep until 5.30. A distinct improvement. And we got a little rain yesterday. More needed, but it is a welcome start.

    1. Thanks EC. I do wish I knew how to set it up as a weekly event but, as said above, my knowledge of blogging is negligible. I do my posts and check others and that's it.
You, like me, welcome the rain. We had thunderstorms but very little rain. I think if there was any worth talking about it fell in the Indian Ocean.
When Precious wakes us early we go back to bed after letting her out. She can get back through the cat door and the security screen door does lock quite well (you need a key to open it).

    1. Thanks Rose. I have been decluttering my home for years but still hope the day will come when it IS ALL DONE.
Yes, it is the bright pink one. Lots of filing still to be done too.

    1. Thanks Buttons. I too am thankful about being able to get around albeit very slowly at times and without my trusty walker I'd not get very far now. At least I am still upright (or nearly). xx

  7. Oh, a room of one's own - love it! What a beautiful space you've created. And love the idea of Thoughtful Thursday - we do need to stop and count one's blessing.

    1. This was my son's room when he was home and perhaps with him having cut all ties nearly 12 years ago I feel good being in here. I'm not sure about that but it works for me.
Hopefully it will soon be looking shipshape and much unneeded 'stuff' will be long gone.
Not showing in the photo is an easy chair and Phil often comes out with a cuppa for each of us and we share time together while I fool around on the computer. When Phil is not using the chair then Precious keeps me company.

  8. So the desk in the photo is now in the living room? Excellent! You can watch TV in between typing posts, or when you are lost for inspiration.
Finding a good thing to be thankful for is like the Pollyanna movie. Remember Pollyanna? Every single day she found something to be happy about. In the movie a lady didn't like Mondays, so Pollyanna told her she could be happy that Mondays only come once a week and there were six whole days before another one.
I find myself doing that a lot, there's always something good in every day.
