THE STORM THAT DIDN'T ARRIVE AT OUR PLACE

There was a lot of damage in our northern areas....infrastructure damaged at Carnarvon as well as many of their crops damaged (bananas in particular) so Cyclone Olwyn did make herself felt and of course in other towns there were roofs damaged and some flooding too.

We had been warned it would continue down the coast and eventually arrive over Perth as a rain bearing depression (a low).  Cyclones are notorious for being difficult and all the wonderful rain we were anticipating just didn't arrive.   The skies looked quite threatening and promising but didn't produce what we had hoped for.  (I took these two photos from our back garden this afternoon.  1) looking towards the north-west and 2) to the south-west):

We did get about 4-5mm overnight and a few drops (only drops though) during the day so all our hopes were dashed.

I am hoping as the low moves towards Albany that people will be spared any damage to their homes etc., but that they will get some much wanted rain that missed us almost completely.

Those are meaningful clouds, for sure! Glad you escaped damage, but shame so few drops of the wet stuff... YAM xx

    1. It rather fizzled out so once again out weatherman were fooled by Mother Nature.
We are still awaiting the rain but probably now not till after Easter as is often the way in Perth.

  5. I'm glad you didn't get walloped with the storm's fury, but hope you get some soft soothing rain real soon. Isn't it amazing how arbitrary the weather can be? Years ago, a tornado caused horrific damage less than a mile away from our house, but all we got is a little rain.

    1. That can happen here. Really heavy rain in the next suburb and nary a drop at our place.
Fortunately we in the south of the state were all safe which can't be said for those further north who sustained damage.

    1. We were fortunate if a little disappointed about the lack of rain.
Mother Nature certainly can be violent at times as shown on Vanuatu on Friday leaving so much havoc with thousands left homeless and at least 6 dead. That was a really deadly category 5 cyclone.

  7. Gosh Mimsie that was rotten luck by Mother Nature. Good fortune that there was no damage of course, but very disappointing at the lack of rain, I understand how desperately you need it there.
