I haven't to look far to find what is 'right' today. My dear daughter (only just over 5 weeks since she had her knee replacement op) drove herself to, and home from, her physio appointment this morning. I know she had her hubby with her, just in case, (gee, she has a wonderful bloke there) but she made it both ways without a problem. When you consider it is about a 35 minute drive each way, not a lot of traffic lights fortunately, that is a lot of driving. We are so proud of her as that is thinking really positively on her part. It's great to know she will now not be house-bound.
Tomorrow she is popping in for a cuppa before she drives into Fremantle for an appointment. I've told her that Phil will gladly take her there as it is can be quite busy even though only a few kilometres from our place. I guess she will decide how she feels once she has driven as far as our place.
Another good 'right'. I saw our dermatologist yesterday and apart from 'zapping' a couple of spots on my forehead he said he doesn't need to see me for *12-15 months. I am very fortunate at my age not to have many skin problems as we live in a country where melanomas are only too frequently found, even on young people. I have a very fair skin and it is to mum I am grateful as never was I allowed out in the sun for any length of time without being smothered with Hamilton's sunburn cream. My skin is by no way perfect but I have few wrinkles yet and I should also credit mum with that as I always wore a big sunhat except when swimming.
My dermatologist recommended a good scrub for anyone who needs to perhaps give their face or their lower neck and good clean. It is Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Scrub. He said to use it twice weekly to get rid of some of those little bumpy things that can appear on the skin of older folk. Just saying. He jokingly said to make sure I got the Positively Radiant and not the Negatively Radiant!!!
*Actually I am seeing Jonathan again in September as he wants Phil and I to co-ordinate our appointments. I'm not sure how we got out of kilter but we did. He will check Phil out in September and probably just glance at me and then we should hopefully both be clear for a further 12 months.
yay for good checkups...what a relief. My right...last night the hubs discovered an electrical wire that had dropped out of place in the basement...we were able to get someone to come first thing this morning.
ReplyDeleteThat was very fortunate. I am one who is afraid of electricity and a wire that has dropped out could be quite dangerous. Well done your hubs.

ReplyDeleteGood news all round here!!
My right? I saw a flat I loved. I offered. They accepted. Still to be rubber stamped etc - but it feels 'right'!! And despite all the doom and gloom on the telly reports, the sun is shining strong in winter Edinburgh. YAM xx
I do hope you are able to have that flat you loved so much and I'm so glad the sun in shining way up there in Scotland. xx
DeletePositively Radiant and not the Negatively Radiant!!!
ReplyDeleteOh your dermatologist is hilarious. I have also had those spots removed on my forehead with farming we are outside in the sun a lot. Wrinkles I am lucky I cannot see any well as long as I do not wear my glasses while looking in the mirror:) I think it is good that your daughter is so determined and a bit stubborn she will be fine I think she is like her Mom:) Hug B
Yes, Jonathan is quite a character. He is of Chinese descent but to hear him talk he sounds just like a dinkum Aussie. He runs a large department in one of our hospitals as well as being part of a private practice.
DeleteI am sure my lass will get there. She certainly hasn't given up and I doubt she ever will. x
I do love someone who tells a good joke, your dermatologist sounds lovely. What great news you have today, it's put a smile on my face. x
ReplyDeleteIt's great to have someone smile for me, thanks. x
DeleteAveeno positively Radiant Daily Scrub, okay I've written that down and will get some next time I shop. I don't usually do scrubs, just a soap and water wash, but if a dermatologist says it's good that's good enough for me. I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of getting a mole check done this year, I never have before and I don't think any of mine are troublesome, but there's a patch of scaly skin on my upper thigh I want looked at. I'll ask my doctor to recommend a dermatologist.
Great news about your girl driving already!!
I've rarely worn much make-up except for lipstick but my skin is so fine I feel it now needs to be cared for with more than just water so I too will buy some of that scrub when we can find it. Chemist Warehouse has it but not Woolies nor IGA. Jonathan said Coles so may try them next time we are near a store.
DeleteI think a dermatologist is better than one of those mole scan places although I think they too do a good job. Never put off anything like that worries you.
It is good about K driving but she said her thigh was very sore after Friday so I'm a little concerned as she goes back to work Monday week.
Good news all round Mimsie, have a great Australia Day Weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteYes Rae, it was good news. We didn't really do anything for Australia Day but then we never do. Heard enough about it on radio and TV and was amazed at how many people were naturalised this year when you think only 7 white Europeans were the first in 1949. My mum and dad didn't have to bother as they were automatically citizens because of when they arrived in Australia.

ReplyDeleteI am very fair skinned and my mothers best friend was Hamiltons sun cream, we used it every single day, with a lot of complaints by me, but she knew best and I have good skin!!!!! I don't go out in the sun!!! xo
ReplyDeleteWe still use Hamiltons or at least Phil does when he is out in the garden. I seldom go outside when it is very hot so no worries. My skin too is very fair and 'cos I'm old now it's also thin. xx
