Recently I discovered this song he shared with Sarah Brightman which I enjoyed very much, I've seen comments that the beach setting is ridiculous but when watching and listening to them both I tend forget the setting but just sit back and enjoy their performance together.
I hope you will listen to it and enjoy it with me. Would love to see what comments you have to make with regard to this particular rendition of this wonderful song. When Phil watched it and listened to it with me he made the comment that he hadn't realised that Cliff Richard had such a good singing voice.
Incidentally "Phantom" is my very favourite musical and Michael Crawford the my favourite phantom although when I saw it on stage in Perth our Australian Anthony Warlow as the phantom was magnficent.
It is pleasant enough, but not for me. Mind you, I am musically ignorant (a musical moron) so that doesn't mean anything.
ReplyDeleteAlways remember EC I am showing here what are my favourites in the way of music. None of us share the same likes or dislikes. If something sounds to me then it is good. There is a lot of 'stuff' called music that I can't stand.

ReplyDeleteHave to confess PotO is not my most favourite of musicals; and something about Sara B causes my skin to crawl - have never been able to pinpoint what it is.
Have always known Cliff had a sweet voice and I did give this a go, because of him.... didn't manage all the way through though. Sorry Mimise - this one's all yours!
Hope you are going along okay this winter - and that Perth hasn't been quite as cold as the East. Hugs, YAM-aunty xxx
OK Yam do tell what is your favourite musical. including some of the oldies. Would be interested to know.
DeleteI find Sara B acceptable so nothing about her I find creepy. Maybe I chose a piece a little long for most tastes.
I am getting there and trying to post occasionally just to you know I am still round and about. Lots of bad aches and pains and busy helping out others on Facebook (games) which has taken up more time than usual.
It has been cold for Perth but nothing like in our eastern states and definitely no snow, unfortunately. lol
Hope you are keeping on keeping on as much as ever. I will try and check out more posts in future, promise. xxx

DeleteThe King and I is an absolute favourite; The Merry Widow; Jesus Christ Superstar; Porgy and Bess... On the whole, though, I suppose I would favour opera over the modern equivalent. La Boheme, Aida, Turandot...
Yes, pretty well this side; though lamenting the lack of summer. Hey ho. Crazy planet. Hugs, YAM xx
It has been a long time since I heard this--THANKS for sharing, it really is beautiful! Josh Groban and Kelly Clarkson released a version of this same song, and I have to say, while it's pretty good, this one is still a favorite!
ReplyDeleteKim, I am so glad you enjoy this as much as I do. I guest not everyone has the same taste in music or artists for that matter. I've not heard the version you mentioned and I too would probably find Cliff and Sara's the best.
DeleteI promise I will try and visit your blog more often. It's just I'm getting a little older each day (no complaint there) but sometimes age just weighs me down.
I'd forgotten about this one, I love it! I used to own an Andrew Lloyd Weber cassette tape and this was on there. I don't know where the tape is now, I remember I liked a lot of the songs on it. I may have to track down a CD and buy that.
ReplyDeleteAh! Great that you love this too. I think it is very romantic the way the pair of them sing this beautiful song
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of CDs with Andrew Lloyd Weber music, both complete musicals or extracts from. I actually have a record of PotO but a CD would be better as I can then play it here in my work room,
