46 YEARS!! THAT'S A LONG TIME

The words on the card say:

Like a bee is to honey and strawberries are to cream
We were made for each other; we're a wonderful team!
                    Happy Anniversary

That's us!!  Yes, we have been married for 46 years today and are both going to strive to stay around long enough to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary in 4 years time.  Wish us luck.  We are really hoping we can make it.  At 81 and 83 are we perhaps hoping for too much!!

Not doing anything special as the Chinese restaurant is closed today so can't have our favourite meal and anyway it's pretty cold, windy and wet outside.  We are going to enjoy roast beef and vegs (take away would you believe?) from a little place we discovered just a couple of weeks back.  May have a glass of red with the meal too.

Here's to us and another good 4 years, complete with the ups an downs of most marriages:

  1. Madam, I'm having a late-night glass of Guinness Extra Stout here in midnight California, and raise it in toast to your anniversary. I'm in my 44th year of marriage and hope likewise to celebrate my 50th. There is no limit on hope, no restriction upon happiness. Here's to you. Here's to you both!

  2. CONGRATULATIONS to both of you. And why stop at four more years? Get greedy - ask for ten (at least) A telegram from the queen sounds good too...
    Hugs.

    1. Wow! You are setting the bar rather high there EC but you never know what is before us in this life so why not? Thanks so much for your good wishes. By the time I reach 100 I think we will probably have a king, either Charles or William.
P.S. Actually it was 60 years this year since my first marriage took place in July 1953 but we don't count that one now. lol Thanks again. xx

    1. It was one of those illustrated cards with lovely little sketches between the words...one of those 3-paged ones that sort of folds out.
I am not sure about aiming too high...I do get rather tired these days. In fact we both do. Thanks for your wishes. x

MUBHARAK HO! ...Hindi wishes of health and luck. I am in awe of anyone going into marriage, never mind being there after any number of years. All I can do is echo the sentiments already given and wish you both the health and stamina to go beyond the goal!! Hugs, YAM xx

  6. Thanks Yamini, your wishes are appreciated. Health and stamina are both important but don't always do the trick. My first marriage only lasted 13 years but we've now proved that second time around can work and has in our case. xx
