TUESDAY CHAT

I'm not sure I'm up to much chatting right now.   We are well advanced towards Christmas with Secret Santa presents bought and wrapped and some presents for the two little girls but have been hunting for some books and puzzles suggested by their mum to no avail.  I find BigW's website worse than useless and by the the time I received the list it was too late to order online.  Today Phil went searching for a special toy that K-Mart were supposed to have but couldn't find it.  He said there was just nobody he could see that he could ask.   These huge stores have so few assistants to help shoppers these days which I feel is not catering to their customers requirements at all.  Never mind, we still have a few days left to hopefully find what we are after.

Another reason I am just a wee bit gob smacked is our weather.....we knew it was going to be hot tomorrow but now it has been increased to an expected maximum of 41C (105F) but at least Christmas Day has been downgraded from 35C (95F) to 33C (91F) which is something to feel a wee bit pleased about.   No wonder we now nearly all have cold Christmas dinners here in Perth.  I see our eastern states cousins will also have quite high temps on 25th which can be unusual for them.  I am sure they will cope quite well as they've already had some quite hot days this summer.

I trust you are all well advanced in your preparations for the festive season and all your efforts will be worthwhile.  Sometimes I wonder if we let ourselves worry too much about special occasions or is it just me.   I keep wondering if I have forgotten something or if I a doing what I need to do properly.  I guess old age makes me ask these questions of myself.  Self doubt does creep in as you become less able to do things which once you took in your stride.  Please don't take that as a complaint....just thinking aloud as I often do these days.

Heheh, I do a lot of that... thinking out loud I mean! The stuffed animals make a great audience. No heckling.

My Christmas is going to be on my own; quiet and contemplative, just as I like it. It seems our unnatural stretch of mild weather is about to end, as the polar vortex over the Americas stirs up trouble on the jet stream...

Hope you get that pressie sorted. YAM xx

    1. I find our cat quite a good listener and she even tries to look interested.
Hope your Christmas Day will be enjoyable, will be thinking of you.
Not sure what is happening to our weather but it's mighty crazy lately. xx

  2. As I sit here freezing my bottom, I almost wish for a day of your Christmas weather. I think I'm done, at least as far as I can be.
So often specific gift requests just cannot be filled at the last minute. It makes us all nuts! Hang in there, it will all sort itself out.

    1. I am doing nothing at all right now. Last minute shopping will do the trick (I hope).
Our Christmas is still going to be quite warm.

  3. Not just age. I wake in the small hours wondering what I have not done.
I hope you find the little extras you want, but feel sure that they will have more than enough without.
    41? Shudder.
    Take care.

    1. In bed is the time when our thoughts turn to things done or left undone and not being one to get up before get-up time I just go back to sleep.
I am sure we will complete our shopping...the computer at BigW was down yesterday so Phil couldn't ask the desk to find out what we were looking for. Their aircon not working either so not a pleasant trip for him.
Too hot today (42.4C) to bother with any of it. Respite of 29C tomorrow and then back into the 30s again.
Hope your weather stays reasonably cool for you.

  4. Oh Mimsie .... I hope you get those last presents. I have one child yet to buy for and two days ago twisted my arthritic knee very badly and am struggling to walk so know how difficult it can be as we age. Here in Noosa it is also very hot and humid but Christmas day is supposed to be quite pleasant. Not too hot. I do hope they are right. You get such extremes of weather in WA. I do hope Christmas day is cooler for you. Have a wonderful Christmas.

    1. Oh, I feel for you with that knee...I have to be very careful of both of mine these days and they can be so painful.
Hope your Christmas is a merry one and also not too hot. We are fortunate here in that the humidity is not too bad in summer although higher that it once was.
Trust you and yours enjoy the festive season in its entirety.]
      Thanks for popping in.

  5. I've heard about the heat coming our way on Christmas Day and all my plans have been revised so I'm spending the day at home in air conditioned comfort. Anybody who wants to see me is welcome to visit, just not before 10am.

    1. Tonight we are slowly trying to recover from our 42.4F...and as the sun goes down it is still quite warm. Lots rain just inland from us but not a drop here near the coast.
I don't blame you for wanting to stay put in the heat as we certainly do seem to be sending some your way and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Just stay cool and enjoy the airconditioning with Angel.
After 10am seems to me a civilised time for anyone to call.
