FRIDAY FAVOURITES No 26

I quite often browse through YouTube while on the computer, find a song I like and sit and listen to it while perhaps playing Scrabble (on Facebook).   Today I found a rendition of The Seekers singing "I am Australian."   I know it is a song that some folk may not like but, having been born here, it always brings a tear to my eye so I thought I'd share it in case some of you haven't heard it before.

It's always great to have the words as well as the music, as is the case here.

  2. Thank you for this. I've never heard the whole song, didn't even know it was a song. I've only heard the chorus and thought it was made up for TV advertising.

    1. So glad to share it with you River. I like the way it begins with the first Australians and then goes on as Australia develops over the years.
      A very powerful song.

Crikey Mims - now I can't see through my steamed up specs!!! Between this and "I call Australia home" I am a total wetwipe.... it interests me that I can 'feel' this so strongly. I truly adopted being and Aussie and what is more, OZ truly adopted me and even now, back in the land of my birth, I think of myself as Australian! Thanks for this wonderful share... YAM xx

  4. Sorry about the steamed up specs Yam but glad you enjoyed 'our' national song.
Phil is like you and so was my mother. Neither ever returned (or indeed wanted to) return to the land of their birth. To them Australia was home.
Hope your weather is holding up OK. xx
