Trying to get back into the swing of things but too tired to look about for a suitable poem for today so thought I'd share with you a poem I learned when I was doing correspondence lessons down on the farm when I was 4 or 5.
THE SUNFLOWER
Mr Sunflower, big and yellow
Said "I'm such a lucky fellow.
To be small must be so queer
I get a splendid view up here."
There is another one about the moon from the same time which I may share with you one day if you are lucky. (*:*)
I do love sunflowers...
ReplyDeleteAs do I but then my favourite colour is yellow.
DeleteBig smiles.
ReplyDeleteThe poems we learnt early stay with us don't they?
An enjoyable little poem and obviously one I liked so it stayed put in the memory bank.
DeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteBig smilies - sunflowers do that anyway, but this ditty adds a few rays! YAM xx
The beauty of the sunflower is renowned and now we know how the sunflower feels as well.
DeleteA lovely and fun verse!! I'm also a huge fan of sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteI feel everyone feels the same way about the beauty of sunflowers.
DeleteI've never heard that one. But now I'm reminded I have some sunflower seeds to plant, if only I can decide where.
ReplyDeleteI think it was one from the Education Dept that went with correspondence lessons for little ones.
DeleteYou will need plenty of sunshine for the sunflowers and plenty of room if they are the big ones. Good luck with them.
