THURSDAY THOUGHTS and FRIDAY FROLICS

I was running so late with Thursday Thoughts this week that I didn't quite make it.  I was trying to find some 'right' things and it was a battle as our heat is still continuing in Perth (96 days officially since rain was recorded here)....38ºC today while our eastern states friends and relations are drifting nicely into autumn.  I do rather envy you that.

To top that off I had the worst bout of hay fever I've ever had and must have sneezed about 100 times on Wednesday.  With the help of antihistamines it is easing, thank goodness.

I did manage to find two 'right' things though.  Had a surprise visit from our daughter and her hubby who popped in for a cuppa on the weekend.  It was wonderful to see them both.

The other 'right' thing was a second builder came to 'admire' the damage to the kitchen cupboards.  He will submit his quote and hopefully we will hear within a week or two what is going to happen in our kitchen.  I hope his firm gets the job as I liked him much better than the builder who called last week.  I'm just hoping the cabinet maker/carpenter who finally gets the job is easy to get on with too.
Oh yes, measurements were also taken to replace the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and also the carpet in the L-shaped hall as it got wet and is stained.  We would like new carpet in our living room too but not sure we could afford it and could I really go through the upheaval it would cause on top of the upheaval that is going to happen in the kitchen?  I am getting far too old for all this commotion.

As for Friday Frolics.....not jokes this week but a few pictures which I thought rather delightful.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Have a great weekend.

  1. LOVE those photos.
And I hope that the more pleasant tradesman does get the job - it makes a huge difference.
Here's to a wonderful result after a brief period of upheaval.

    1. They are good aren't they? I do so love to laugh.
This kitchen thing is going to drag on and honestly I am feeling old of late so that probably makes it seem worse than it is.
I hope you have good people repairing your driveway too. How is that job going?
May you have a good weekend.

  2. I LOVE the cat and kitten cuddling!! I have the hugest smile form that.
I hope your kitchen is all fixed really soon.
I've had a bout of hayfever too, I wondered why as the Jasmine isn't blooming at this time of year, then I noticed the Murrayas everywhere. And I do mean EVERYWHERE! Along the front of the gardens here, close to 2 dozen bushes all still small, they will grow to about 2 and a half metres and eventually be covered in flowers. Then along the fence of the local shopping centre, another couple of dozen, then there are some in private gardens too. I forgot to take a photo of my daughters Murraya, it is full grown and has so many blossoms I can hardly see the glossy green leaves! I planted it myself when I was living there, had no idea the pollen would affect me. The scent is lovely, but heady. I had to take antihistamines, the first ones since the Jasmine season. But in only a couple of weeks, the pollen seems to have mostly gone already.

    1. Cats do make us smile with their antics.
I don't know what caused the bout of hay fever I had as not a lot in bloom around us right now. My daughter is allergic to jasmine altho' has it growing in her back garden and loves it.
I don't recognise the name Murraya so must check it out. I probably will know it by sight.
Hope your hay fever clears up soon as it can really wear you out.
      Enjoy the weekend.

    2. I believe it is also called Mock Orange blossom as it does have a faint orange scent under the headiness. it may also be known as Stephanotis but I could be wrong on that. The flowers do look like orange blossom.

    3. Strangely enough an ad for a garden centre had Murraya for sale and it looked to be a shrub. We had Stephanotis growing years back and it was a creeper with the most beautiful perfume. Unfortunately the garden centre is way up in Wanneroo, a long trip up the Freeway from us.

    1. Glad I helped give a good start to your day.
A person's demeanour can be important, especially when you first meet them i.e. workmen, etc.

    1. Good to smile so glad I bought smiles to your face.
We are having a brief cool change this weekend with temps in the high 20s but back to the 30s again all next week.
Ah, the kitchen. It's what nightmares are made of but I guess these little things come to try our patience at times.
Hope your weekend goes well for you both. x

Just hope when the work is commenced we have pleasant workmen as I know it's going to be a trying time for me and so glad I have Phil for much needed support.

    1. I loved that wee bird too and hope it didn't mind wearing a helmet. It looked reasonably happy but then can you really tell with an owl?
I am sure whoever gets the contract to repair our kitchen will do an excellent job. It's just the waiting I guess and knowing the turmoil it will cause.
Thanks for the cooling thought and it is a tad cooler this weekend thank goodness but back into the 30s next week. This is typical of March in Perth unfortunately.
      Have an enjoyable weekend.
