IT'S BEEN A VERY BUSY WEEK

I have just popped in to post my Zebra Finch story and I realised I've been most impolite this week in not visiting other blogs.

It has been for me a truly busy week although to others probably quite normal.  My back is getting so bad that just walking is becoming a problem over any distance and by that I mean a 100 yards or so.  We have had appointments every day of one kind and another and on Monday I waited 2 hours to see my eye specialist for his explanation of what he is going to do on 13th June (more about that later).  He could have explained it on the telephone so why I had to see him I don't know. At least he didn't charge me which must be a first, but to wait all that time!!

Of course after that I shouted 'himself' to lunch at a local cafe as I had to buy some 8 ply crochet/knitting yarn.  Over the years I had crocheted rugs and donated them to Vinnys but had neglected finishing the rugs over the past few years.  My right hand is badly affected with osteoarthritis so was protecting it but then I decided to get the crochet hook out and finish the rugs I had started.  Strangely enough, although for a few weeks it was quite painful, I am now finding I can crochet for longer periods so hopefully it is helping my hand rather than doing it harm.

I then had a sudden thought "Perhaps Vinnys don't want rugs now" so I telephoned them.  A lady called Molly answered the phone and when I explained what I was ringing about she said "Oh yes, I remember your rugs and we'd love some more!!  I've been a volunteer here for 18 years and I remember you bringing them in".  That made me feel I am of use at least in a small way so I am glad I bought all that extra wool on Monday.  I will deliver half a dozen rugs to Vinnys next week and hopefully be able to make more during the cooler weather.

There were blood tests for us both (we see our endocrinologist next Wednesday), I had a physio session on Tuesday, we went to our exercise group and had our respective hair(s) cut on Wednesday, we both visited our podiatrist on Thursday and yesterday we had the annual visit from the pest control.

That for me is a busy week and I've just had the time to manage to keep up with my own posts but nothing more.  I promise that tomorrow I will go through the posts I've missed as I do so enjoy them all.
No, of course that is not me 'cos I can't run at all, or even walk very well, but it's what I feel I've been doing all week. This weekend, with soup made in one slow cooker and a lovely beef casserole in the other (all the handiwork of himself (I did cut up the beef though),  I will be on here or watching football and doing some more crochet.  See you all soon.  : )

  1. That is a very, very busy week. I am so sorry that your body is giving you grief - so frustrating. And I am always irritated at being kept waiting at the doctor's surgery. One of ours has a sign up which says that if YOU are late your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged. Given that she is often up to an hour late I think she has a bit of a hide putting that sign in place.
I am not surprised that Vinnie's welcome your rugs - hand made anything has charm. And I believe shows much more love that the store bought variety.

    1. How can a doctor charge if you miss a consultation and yet keep you waiting for so long? That is hypocritical to say the least.
The body may be pretty grotty but fortunately the old mind still works at perhaps not full steam but does work pretty well so something to be grateful for.
It's amazing how my hand is standing up to using the crochet hook again so I will push on regardless.

  2. It's been one of those weeks here too. I suspect our planet plunges through a belt of increased disorganization sometimes and everything gets more complicated. My compliments on your coping skills!

  3. Actually Geo you could say I believe in the 'chaos therory' as my life seems to be one of organised chaos most of the time. I am not sure my coping skills are all that good any more, but somehow we two oldies get there, eventually (with a little support from our friends).

  4. That IS a busy week for sure. Somehow when you don't move all that well (and believe me I know whereof I speak) everything takes so much more effort and wears one out so quickly. sigh. Take it easy over there and don't overdo.

    1. You do really understand don't you? It's the getting ready to go, the going, the changing into house clothes when I get back etc. etc. Doesn't sound a lot but it sure does wear me out!! Thanks for caring. : )

    1. Yes it's been all go in our world and nothing very exciting either!!! The weather has cooled down significantly. We've actually had a couple of nights of only 2C which is more like Canberra weather. Beth will understand what I mean by that. The days are much cooler as well. Hope you two are getting more free time in your busy lives too and all 3 of you and the cats are well. xx
