THOUGHTS ON THURSDAY

"I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man that had no feet"

This week I have had this thought very much in my mind.  On Monday evening I lifted some things that were heavy and paid the price the next day when I could barely walk because of the pain in my back.  I was so thankful to have the smaller walking frame that I can negotiate around in corners in the house.  I don't exactly get around like this youngster, but at least I can still get around.

I was able to get an appointment with my physiotherapist yesterday afternoon and she worked so hard on all the painful spots for half an hour and I did obtain some relief.  At least I could almost stand upright although still having problems walking properly.  This morning the stiffness has set in again but I've just had a call from the physio's office telling me they can fit me in to see Jenny at noon today.

This is something I've lived with off and on for many years now and I always to try and remember how many people are worse off than I am.  That is why I used the above quote.  There is always someone somewhere MUCH worse off than I am.

Today therefore the 'right' thing in my life is that I do indeed still have two legs so can get around on, albeit very slowly, and can still see very well, hear not so well, smell the roses and do most of the things we take for granted every day.  I do have a lot to be thankful for and the most important 'right' at present is a wonderful man who listens to me grizzle, puts up with me and then helps in any way he can including getting our lunch and dinner the last two days.  Thank you Phil.  Without you I'd be sunk.
