Had we been able to hold it on the 16th September, the day would have been fine and sunny and about 25C. We would have met at Karen's house and sat outside along with her frangipani and her hubby's beautiful orchids. As it happened Sunday 8th October turned out to be rather cool with showers threatening so instead we met at the home of eldest granddaughter and her husband.
There was just the 10 of us as grandson had to work and of course our other granddaughter lives in the US of A. Although absent they were in our thoughts as was my dear old dad as 8th October was the day of his birth, 132 years previously.
Karen had organised the goodies and the tablecloth was strewn with golden leaves and there were 5 lovely balloons as a centrepiece.
After that we all went and sat outside while the two little girls showed us their skills on the swings, monkey bars etc. They can do all sorts of things that I'd never have thought of doing as a child!!
We both had a really enjoyable afternoon and when we arrived home there was our Candy cat waiting for us. A delightful end to a wonderful day.
I am thrilled that you finally celebrated your anniversary - and it looks absolutely lovely. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC and it was lovely. We may be few but we always enjoy being together.
DeleteHappy to hear that the day finally happened. It sounds like you all had a special time. The cupcakes look yummy! Nice as a gathering is, it's always nice to come home where your pretty kitty is. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon and it was special.
DeleteOur Candy is a rescue cat and in the just over 3 years we've had her with us she has taken over. We love her to bits.

ReplyDeleteHello Candy, haven't seen in a while!
So glad you had this wonderful day together with the younger set, Mimsie. A soft memory to lighten more days. YAM xx
Candy is still happily with us and we with her.
DeleteIt was a wonderful afternoon and one the memory of which will remain with is for a long time. xx
So glad you got to have your party with friends and family, then home again to your cuddly Candy.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't seem like an anti-climas but as though we were actually celebrating on the day itself which made it extra special. Phil and I didn't even exchange cards till we arrived home that evening.
DeleteCandy is always happy to have us home again.
Happy 50th, Mimsie! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sandi. Quite a milestone for a couple of oldies.
