This is a real bit of nonsense from Pirates of Penzance....The Major General's song. Fortunately the provide the lyrics as I certainly can't make out the words he sings. I wonder what the youth of today would think of this?
I won't think less of you if you don't watch it through to the end.
My parents loved G & S, but it leaves me cold. As does most opera (light or otherwise). I hope that you, Phil and Candy are doing well.

ReplyDeleteGolly, this takes me back to school am-dram days!!! G&S is incredible fun in its organised mayhem, but it surely does require energy!!! YAM xx
I love this song. I first heard it back in the 80s when we rented a video copy of The Pirate Movie which we all loved so much we eventually bought the DVD when it was released. I've never seen the Gilbert & Sullivan play, but I have seen the Jon English and Simon Gallagher version at Her Majesty's Theatre here in Adelaide and it was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThere are photos of Lola on my post today.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a tongue twister. Not really a favorite of mine ...
