FRIDAY FAVOURITES No 20

I am running a tad late this week so had to quickly think up one of my favourites from the dim, distant past.

This is a song that was very popular for a long while.  Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary found on YouTube.  Hope you too will enjoy it as much as I did, hearing it for the first time in many years.

I rather liked the pictures that go with this version rather than just watching three people singing.  This is actually the very first time I had listened carefully to the words and I was saddened when I realised that Puff had lost his little friend and had withdrawn into his cave.  Just shows it does pay to listen to the words.

  1. I remember this, every time it played, I was always sad when Jackie grew too old to play with Puff.
I prefer clips that have pictures instead of just people singing, but they're not always easy to find.

    1. River, I had either forgotten the words or not listened closely enough at the time I thought this video particularly beautiful and, as you say, good visuals are worth a thousand words, or something along those lines.

  3. I always loved this song - and like River mourned when Puff's friend grew too old for him. A big mistake in my eyes. Not one I would make.

    1. I am still trying to remember if I actually knew that Puff had lost his little friend. I tend to use music in the background so perhaps I miss out on the true meaning of the songs.
These days I can't understand the words so it would make no difference. Not that I listen to modern (what they call) music.
