FRIDAY FAVOURITES No 21

I have long been a fan of piano music, especially the classics.  I loved playing the piano and only wish my poor old hands were nimble enough to do so still.  Instead I enjoy listening to many artists doing so and one of my favourite composers is Frederic Chopin (born in Poland on 1 March, 1810; died Paris, France on 17 October, 1849).

Here one of Phil's favourite artists, Daniel Barenboim, plays Chopin's Waltz Op 64 Minute Waltz in D Flat Major.  (It is always called The Minute Waltz but actually takes about 1 minute 45 seconds to complete).

Thanks once again to YouTube without which I would be lost.  I often just sit hear and listen to all sorts of wonderful music while I am doing something or other on another browser.  I do hope you will enjoy this.

  1. Thank you Mimsie, that was lovely. I listened to Barenboim's interpretation followed by Lang Lang's and loved them both. I then I just had to go on and listen to Lang Lang playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. Such sublime music.
I would have loved to play the piano but growing up we were too poor to have lessons. It's only been in the last 20 years or so that I have developed a love for classical music that features the piano. Piano music speaks to my soul like no other instrument. It's magic.

    1. I am so glad you enjoyed that and continued through to listen to the others as well.
I have always loved music and it ranges from the old type work and roll right through to classical music and even some opera. I find the piano also talks to me and can being tears to my eyes. It is indeed magic.

  2. No, I can't listen to that. I stopped it after 25 seconds.

    1. I am so sorry River. What was wrong with it? Pity you didn't give it a few more seconds as it is so beautiful.
