61 YEARS AGO...YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING

I truly find to difficult it is indeed 61 years ago today that I had not long left St George's Cathedral in Perth on the arm of my new husband.

Of course many of you would know that the marriage only lasted 13 years, some of which were quite turbulent, and yet out of those 13 years there were many good things, most importantly two much loved children, through whom I now am proud to have 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

As you also know my second marriage has worked out better than one could possibly hope for, even with a few ups and downs, but then life would be dull without them wouldn't it.  I often feel somewhat sad for Aubrey that his second marriage ended so badly but hopefully his third marriage, very late in life to his long time partner is working out well for both of them.

Phil has been such a wonderful support for me with the loss of our Precious and yet I know he is grieving as much as I am being without her.  I would truly be lost without that man in my life.  We celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary in September.  Perhaps a couple of days away for a second honeymoon?  Now there's a pleasant thought.

Family (with phone calls and flowers) have been wonderful to us as well as many blogging friends and also friends on Facebook.  So many kind thoughts can only help to make us feel so much better and lighten our mood.  Our special thanks to everyone. xx

  1. Oh I do hope you manage a little 'second honeymoon'. That would be so nice for both of you...and September is not far off (sigh). Glad to hear your support network is there for you during this sad time.

    1. Thanks Delores. We are thinking perhaps a motel not too far from home for a few days, perhaps one with a dining room attached. Would be great not having to cook or wash up. Yes, we've had fantastic support.

    1. Thanks Yam. Hope to be away soon but it's decision making time to decide where to go.
My profile pic is of the Aussie Rules football team I support. I felt it time to get rid of the baby picture and grow up a little. xx

  4. After 47 years, a second honeymoon would seem to be in order. But I'm no authority: after 44 years, Norma and I are still not decided on where to take our first one.

    1. Geo. you always make me smile. More of a damned good rest than honeymoon perhaps but it would be great to have a break. Hope you and Norma can come up with a spot to spend a few days. Do you good to have a break, together of course.

  5. 61 years ago today. I know you've been married twice, but reading about those days doesn't really put the time into perspective like saying 61 years ago. I suddenly feel older. I'm 61.
I think your marriage to Phil is the best thing that happened, apart from your children and a couple of days for a second honeymoon in September is a fabulous idea.

    1. So you were born as I was getting married for the first time!!! Imagine how old that makes me feel. Wow!!
Yes, Phil may not be superman or anything like that but he'll do me. Dear old chap is sitting in the chair near me right now, fast asleep. Love the way he can just 'drop off' like that. I do envy him at times.
