HEY...IT RAINED
Yes it did. Not a lot..probably only 1mm but the sound of the rain on the roof was a sheer delight and am glad to say the thunder wasn't too close by. Not sure there's more rain to come and it is going to be very hot today (38C...100.4F) but it is just so wonderful to look out at the garden and it's wet!!! Hopefully far too early in the season to bring up the winter weeds but those little critters don't take much encouragement do they?
I guess if you live in a place where you get lots of rain all year round this post may sound incredibly stupid but when you go weeks without rain and then there is unexpected precipitation....you just go a wee bit bonkers for a few minutes.
Wonder when it will rain again? One can only hope!!
Here in the state of Georgia, we've experienced a lot of droughts, and along with that, wildfires, so I know how glorious rain can be. When I was a little girl, when it rained, we'd go outside and wash my father's car. Even today, when we finally get some rain in the middle of a long hot summer, I think about how much fun that used to be. I'm almost tempted to do it again. Almost, but not quite.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. Lovely to have you pay a visit. Western Australia is pretty dry at present. My hubby often pops the car out into the driveway when we have rain. Saves water which is always in short supply here. 1mm of rain is very little but I can see you understand why I was so excited about it. :)
DeleteWe get the same way about sunshine this time of year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity we can't do a trade.....our sunshine for your rain or even snow would be good. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a little rain here yesterday - and is was WONDERFUL, so I know how you feel.
ReplyDeleteSilly isn't it, but the sound of that rain on the roof was wonderful. Let's hope we both hear that great sound again before too long. Am hoping the skinny person is coming along well and you are not too worn out. : )
ReplyDeleteRain? What's that?
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to get your storm tomorrow, even though 34C is also predicted.
I hope it happens, with rain.
1mm was better than none at all but we are back with another mini-heatwave here with temps in the mid-30s yet again. Our eastern states cousins seems to begin autumn much earlier than either of our two states do. We virtually have no autumn in Perth and I would imagine Adelaide is somewhat similar.
