Lots of so many different things in her life until she was in her 80s.
I hope there is still sufficient interest. I shall go on until the day when nobody comments and then I'll know I've done too much and I'll stop. xxx
Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-77289498428269982452015-01-12T19:47:15.057+08:002015-01-12T19:47:15.057+08:00No matter how difficult it is at the time people w...No matter how difficult it is at the time people will get married if they really want to which obviously happened with our folks.
Perhaps that nasty lady told mum what she did just to see her reaction. I am sure when she saw the confetti and rice she realised they were a newly married couple.
Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-15370718350092837632015-01-12T19:45:34.723+08:002015-01-12T19:45:34.723+08:00I hope the story still has some interest for folks...I hope the story still has some interest for folks other than myself. I am sure that woman was just out to cause trouble rather than being helpful. Mum didn't say whether she left confetti and rice to be cleaned up but knowing the way it gets into things I'd say there's a fair chance there were bits around the room.
Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-4780786624243310162015-01-10T22:40:40.754+08:002015-01-10T22:40:40.754+08:00A lot of restrictions applied to weddings in the w...A lot of restrictions applied to weddings in the war days....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-82361931361832931792015-01-10T18:54:20.398+08:002015-01-10T18:54:20.398+08:00Hari OM

They could buy ingredients for a party cake, but only one, so they married close to Christmas (so I was told) so as to be able to celebrate both the wedding and Christmas.
I like the idea of the bags getting filled with rice and confetti, was a good joke. My own wedding dress still had bits of confetti caught in the lace on the bodice when I eventually gave it away about 23 years later, that stuff gets everywhere!
I agree that landlady was nasty, perhaps she was one of those types who thrive on scandal and gossip.Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-13273971207180017822015-01-10T13:11:13.766+08:002015-01-10T13:11:13.766+08:00Fascinating as always.
