I hope your sister benefited from her stay in one of those homes. I think quite often strangers can teach a person more than family members as they are not so 'close'.
I can understand why the choir didn't work out with the youngsters not being able to remember the words or to read them of course.Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-19535318755458144052015-04-01T18:11:40.393+08:002015-04-01T18:11:40.393+08:00Thanks Delores and hope you soon get back to norma...Thanks Delores and hope you soon get back to normal without that struggle you are having in the interim.
Hopefully you may even be able to go back and heck mum's story as there is much of interest in what she has to tell.Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-21317149058804495392015-04-01T18:10:32.612+08:002015-04-01T18:10:32.612+08:00Thank you EC.
You confirm what I was saying about ...Thank you EC.
You confirm what I was saying about K's interaction with many of the youngsters at the SLCG's functions. She was only quite young but so enjoyed herself in their company and they seemed to love her with no resentment that she was different to them which was wonderful and she in turn accepted them for who they were.Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-46664177082595314882015-04-01T18:08:29.379+08:002015-04-01T18:08:29.379+08:00Thanks Yam for your great comments. Facebook is notorious for constantly making changes and if it wasn't that I enjoy playing Scrabble so much I may not bother with it. It comes down to the old much used comment "If it ain't broke, why try and fix it?"
With regard to dates, I am following mum's book through page by page or I may muck it up altogether. I think it is straight forward enough for readers to realise she has written as she remembers them even if not always in datal order. She did so much she was often involved in one or more organisations at the one time. xxMimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-66506934561793092052015-04-01T16:25:49.440+08:002015-04-01T16:25:49.440+08:00I remember a similar place/organisation here in So...I remember a similar place/organisation here in South Australia that helped these young people. My mum was very insistent on my sister living in one of these homes for several years to learn to manage things for herself, as she was very resistant to family members teaching her. They do such good work, helping with learning to function and having fun too. Sad that the teenage choir didn't work out. As usual.
Many years ago I did some work with children with disabilities (mostly intellectual) and I was soooo impressed with how accepting they were of others. I suppose for the purposes of your readers...Hari OM
I suppose for the purposes of your readers, the dates are not so important as the flow of experience your mother had... though I quite understand the desire to 'keep it straight'!

On the matter of comments or lack thereof.. I have noted a couple of times recently a "500 error" when trying to get comments lodged and I suspect it is mainly happening at high-traffic times; it could also mean that the little beavers who keep the whole ether up in the air for us are busy fiddling and jiggling as the plug in new stuff!!! Don's worry. We know you're there .. &*> YAM xxYamini MacLeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18383916589808462620noreply@blogger.com
