I think somewhere in the shed is the foot last (I think that was what they are called) dad used to do that work. I often wonder about getting my little old mobile phone up and working again. I think the sim card would work. Toaster, ...I remember when we repaired things too. Toaster, kettles were repairable. Now it is not cost effective. Throw them out and get a new one. My mobile phone is old. No camera. No internet. It makes and takes calls and text. And its buttons are big enough.
