It was a pity about the bankruptcy. He didn't deserve that to happen as he worked hard and he was a generous man.
Phil now tells me he is pretty sure it was an accountant who embezzled money but I am sure at that time Tom had handed the reins to his son or son-in-law.
I feel you could be right about the Samson family. Of course, even with compulsory voting, there are lots of informal votes in Oz many of which are deliberate. You hear people say "I don't like an of them so I just put a line through the voting paper."
I often think politicians need to pass a test before entering Parliament and I am sure lots of voters need a few more brains too!!! Tis a funny old world.
Will be interesting to see the outcome of this election in the UK. I know the PM wants unity so it is once again a solid UNITED Kingdom but Scotland and Wales have other thoughts.
Are you fully recovered from your lack of sleep? xxMimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-59674246007095926922015-05-09T07:37:47.922+08:002015-05-09T07:37:47.922+08:00Hari OM

That means the one whole third of the voting public here were just too lazy or indifferent or whatever it is that doesn't get them motivated to take some responbility for the country in which they live.

This result could very well see some form of federal 'resort' here and I think that would be a very good thing.... hey ho... &*> YxxYamini MacLeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18383916589808462620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-63282435034921564012015-05-08T17:33:57.065+08:002015-05-08T17:33:57.065+08:00That is a very true statement of your Grandma'...That is a very true statement of your Grandma's. Amazingly though it is often the not quite so well off that are generous to the extreme.
That election result was a surprise especially for the Labour Party. I wonder if there will be another referendum soon about secession for Scotland now that the SNP has done so well at the polls?
I personally am very pleased about the result but I am sure there are many who don't feel the same way.
I still wonder why many countries hold their polling day on a week day. In Australia we always go to the polls on a Saturday.
Hope you have manage to catch up on lost sleep. xxMimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-50472648204915158962015-05-08T17:30:47.329+08:002015-05-08T17:30:47.329+08:00I think there are still many unsung heroes out the...I think there are still many unsung heroes out there today working hard to make the world a better place for others.
Of course the rich get richer keeping their wealth to themselves and yet there are some very generous people including our own Twiggy Forest as well as many others.Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-29925600762938892672015-05-08T17:29:07.614+08:002015-05-08T17:29:07.614+08:00There was indeed very little that kept her down fo...There was indeed very little that kept her down for long.Mimsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00249766510078357225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-17647267076537181972015-05-08T17:24:47.684+08:002015-05-08T17:24:47.684+08:00What a stroke of luck getting the large house and ...What a stroke of luck getting the large house and having things settled in time for Christmas.
I remember a Tom the cheap store in Port Pirie, my sister shopped there, for as long as it was open; several years I believe.
The Samson family seems to have been a snooty bunch.Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2704657209559170713.post-35917475450067494602015-05-08T11:32:40.942+08:002015-05-08T11:32:40.942+08:00..ugggghhh.. iS.....on the righT....(been up all n.....ugggghhh.. iS.....on the righT....(been up all night watching election results.
